Sometimes, you just need to hit the restart button. Bankruptcy may be the best option to do that. Filing Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcies may discharge debts or help debtors find financial relief. Having someone represent you may also stop creditors from harassing you.

Three step process

Camphuis Law takes a three step approach to determining if Bankruptcy is right for you.

  • Consultation — receive a free 15-minute phone call with a bankruptcy attorney to learn more about bankruptcy options
  • Investigation — let Camphuis Law investigate your case to determine if the timing is right to file your bankruptcy or if other options would be recommended (such as tax resolution or financial counseling)
  • Bankruptcy Representation — we will file your bankruptcy petition for a flat fee and appear at the 341 hearing with you

Chapter 7

This is also known as liquidation bankruptcy and provides relief to those facing extreme debt. All non-exempt assets may be sold to pay off unsecured debts. Unsecured debts can include mortgages, auto loans, credit card debt and medical bills. You may choose to retain some debt, such as auto loans and mortgages, in order to keep your property.

chapter 13

In a Chapter 13 bankruptcy, an individual can be relieved from debts and not be forced to sell all their property. This form of debt relief allows you to repay debts through a pre-approved court payment plan. A chapter 13 may be preferred if you don’t meet the qualifications to file a chapter 7, and don’t want to sell your assets to repay your debt.

The Story

The Law Office of Matthew W. Camphuis was founded to help people and to make a difference while doing it.

Camphuis Law seeks innovative ways to serve our clients through the use of modern technology coupled with good ole fashioned lawyering. Camphuis Law’s core values include hard work, dedication to excellence, and integrity.

Camphuis Law strives to keep our firm client-centric. My hope is to provide not only optimal legal services but enjoyable experiences as well. In order to facilitate greater access to justice and legal services, I implemented ways to perform my legal services completely virtually.

In the wake of Covid-19 and the economic consequences that will follow, people will need help with finances now more than ever. Camphuis Law has positioned itself to uniquely serve clients during this difficult time to preserve their wealth and make it grow. I aim to help those in bad financial situations get out of them and to keep those in good economic circumstances keep it that way. One of the ways I do this is by keeping my costs down by operating my firm completely virtually. By operating a modern virtual law firm I am able to pass on these saved costs to clients.

Thank you for being part of Camphuis Law’s story.

Defend the poor and fatherless; Do justice to the afflicted and needy. Deliver the poor and needy; Free [them] from the hand of the wicked.

– Psalm 82:3-4 NKJV
